I was born in Bellingham WA to two believing parents who brought me to church and taught me the gospel at and early age. I trusted Jesus as my Savior at a young age after a dream about hell.
I began working in my church's youth ministry while a senior in High School, leading a guys Bible Study. It was there that I realized that God had gifted me in understanding and teaching His Word. Through constant Bible Study I grew to love God's Word and knew I needed to go to Bible College to be better equipped for serving Him. But my own pride kept me back, I did not want to be lacking money like the way I'd grown up on the farm. So I pursued a business degree at Western Washington University, but God had other plans. After struggling with a math course I realized that God was not leading me to a Business degree. I tried out a few other degrees but was dissatisfied with them so I finally took a quarter off to work construction with my Dad. It was during that time off that a friend from church offered to pay for me to go on a missions trip to Guatemala for two weeks. I didn't want to go, I was afraid that God would call me to be a missionary. After many hours of prayer that night, I resolved in my heart to do whatever God wanted me to do with my life. It was a life changing trip! I saw people who had no material wealth but were smiling because of their love for the Lord. When I got back from that trip I enrolled at Shasta Bible College in Redding CA where my uncle taught some courses. It is a smaller college of 40 or so full time students, so I met Sonya on the first day. One and a half years later we were married. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Bible and Theology, I desired to be further trained in handling God's Word accurately so we moved to Southern California to go to The Master's Seminary. During Seminary, we had our first son, James, and I went to work full time in construction. I also took on a part time Youth Pastor position at a small Bible church in Northridge. God is faithful and carried me through the many short nights and hot days. In 2004 I graduated TMS with my Master of Divinity degree and was called to be the Youth Pastor here at Church in the Wildwood. We moved up in September after the birth of our second son Justin. Since then I have been privileged to shepherd the Jr. and Sr. High students and teach the Word of God verse by verse to them. If you would like to grow in the Lord I invite you to join us on Thursday nights or Sunday mornings.
